Stoerhouse Highlands has selected Aalborg Energie Technik a/s (www.aet-biomass.com) of Denmark (‘AET’) as their technology partner in the development of its CHP plants.

AET have a proven track record of building and operating plant similar to the one proposed – meeting and exceeding design and operational performance criteria. Examples of their installations in the UK include the Western Wood plant near Port Talbot and the recently completed plant for the Helius – CoRDe project in Rothes.

The plant will receive and combust virgin wood and forestry residues to produce high pressure steam for conversion to electricity and heat via a steam turbine. The plant is considered ‘Best Available Technology’ in terms of its processes and efficiencies and will meet the Government’s ‘Good Quality’ criteria for CHP plant. The robustness and life-cycle of the AET technology can be demonstrated through its extensive list of reference sites across Europe.
